Still Running to the Sun
Brown sugar, Blackgirl magic, coconut oil and Cocoa colored skin that illuminates when you see their faces are all the things that can describe these ladies. Meet the visually beautiful duo St. Beauty. The duo Alex Belle and Isis Valentino have the stunning music to match their voices. Marching to the beat of their own drum these two have been able to create great visual depictions with their music.
A few years back these ladies were featured on an episode of Insecure. The beauty and individuality that these ladies represent it is absolutely no wonder why their track “Borders” was featured on episode five of Insecure. Along side music consultants for the Solange and Raphael Saadiq and music supervisor Kier Lehman on Insecure these ladies fit right into the episode. In the Renaissance of black television upon us ((which I love) it is always great to hear a breath of fresh air.
Debut Album
On 1/19/18 St. Beauty released their debut album “Running to the Sun” and it was everything I hoped their album would be. Ten songs of life’s nostalgia and just enough to get you through and leaving space for repeat. St. Beauty is hard to wrap into words but if there is one great thing I can say it is to “Listen for Yourself”. The album is easy to relate to with life’s struggles. “Poor Little Rich Girl (interlude) is somewhere we have been before. Although it’s hard to admit it’s happened to us! Especially in college. Some of my favorite songs on the album are “Borders, Tides, Stone Mountain, Not Discuss It, and Caught” Available on all music platforms! Support these beautiful, talented ladies in their journey.
Wondaland
Janelle Monae’s beauties have taken their stance in music and I absolutely loved these girls from the moment I heard them. Signed to an impeccable roster St. Beauty fits right perfectly nestled in with like minded artists on Wondaland Records. These ladies are making moves and from listening to their debut album the love they are receiving is well deserved.
